Re: ALM (MAP) connecting to Exchange Mail Box using SSL

Hi Shartke

Saying that the Email Server by selecting the Exchange option "should automaitically be discovered" is not actually correct is it.

What is missing is the usual problem in the LANDesk world - it has has failed to advise in any of its documentation and anywhere in this or any other forum the actual process or steps that are needed to be followed in order to actually make the Exchange "bit" work.

For an actual ITIL mimic company dedicated to processes it is seen to perpetually poor on documenting and advising customers or even the LANDesk third party vendors or implementors on the basic steps reqired to even do the most basic of things in LANDesk. I believe I have found an answer from the msdn web site in response to error I attached.

What I still don't know is 2 things:

1: Why is this prerequisite for using the Exchange option not documented in LANDesks documentation?

2: Why, oh why, would LANDesk develop two different methods, for two of its integrating products when they need to connect to the identical end source - an email account?

Perhaps they are in the process of dropping ALM.

Any thoughts from any one would be welcome as I will log this via our thirdparty implementors.

Please excuse my vitriol as we operate in a Service Delivery Environment with many tens of thousands of customers and even logging a call directly with LANDESK UK gets less than a poor response. No response at all which is why I am on a forum.
